Born a Crime: Day 7: Chapter 17: The World Doesn't Love You
Summary & Theme: Trevor stole one of Abel's old cars but got pulled over by the police. In jail, he acted as if he's the tough colored gangster to survive, went through the bail hearing, and eventually got out. Even though Trevor though he handled everything himself, he found out that his mother took care of it like the lawyer and the bail money. One of the themes in this story is that people tend to pretend to be someone else in order to survive in the group. My Story: I agree that people pretend to be someone else to survive in a group. It's not always as serious as Trevor's situation, but we do this a lot. Even just a few days ago, I acted as if I knew a lot of information about high schools. I could just stay there and listen to what they were talking about. I am not close friends with them. We don't even say hi in the hallways, so I didn't really have to care what they thought of me.
